Summary

This dream reveals deep unresolved grief, lingering trauma, and protective instincts regarding your late son. The green feces symbolizes incomplete healing and toxic emotions, while the shoes represent your journey forward. The food and mother-in-law imagery reflects ongoing suspicions and unprocessed fears about your son's death.

Interpretation

The appearance of your deceased son in this dream carries profound significance. In Islamic dream interpretation, seeing a deceased child often represents unfinished emotional business and the soul's need for prayers and closure. The act of playing together symbolizes your longing for the relationship that was cut short. However, the green feces that appears represents toxic emotions, unresolved grief, and perhaps guilt that you are "hiding" rather than processing. Green can symbolize both healing and sickness - in this context, it suggests emotional wounds that need attention rather than concealment.
(Abdulgani al-Nabulusi — Encyclopedia of Dream Interpretation, Islam)

From a psychological perspective, this dream reveals the complex layers of your grief process. Freud taught us that dreams of deceased loved ones often express wishes and unresolved conflicts. Your son appearing as a child needing care reflects your continued desire to protect and nurture him, even in death. The feces - particularly being hidden while you attend to customers - represents shame, guilt, or aspects of your grief that you feel compelled to hide from the public world. You are compartmentalizing your pain, showing a functional face to your business while concealing your inner turmoil. The traditional sources note that such dreams about deceased persons giving or creating messes often symbolize the emotional "burden" the living carry.
(Sigmund Freud — The Interpretation of Dreams, Psychology)

The barefoot imagery and search for shoes carries deep symbolic weight across traditions. In Islamic interpretation, being barefoot represents vulnerability and spiritual need, while shoes symbolize one's path and protection on life's journey. Your choice between two pairs with "slight difference in colour and size" represents decisions you face about how to move forward after loss. The maroon color you selected is significant - reddish-brown tones often represent earthiness, grounding, and connection to mortality. The fact that you chose and wore these shoes indicates your readiness to continue walking your path, despite the pain.
(Muhammed Ibn Sirin, Dreams and Interpretations, Islam)

The food imagery - palm (pap) and okra relish - represents sustenance, nourishment, and daily life. The appearance of your mother-in-law, whom you believe responsible for your son's death, rushing away in high heels without speaking, reveals the unresolved conflict and suspicion in your heart. High heels in dreams often represent pride, status, or an elevated but unstable position. Her hurried departure suggests either guilt or your projection of guilt onto her. The black substance you found in food twice before your son's death creates a traumatic association that your subconscious mind is replaying. Whether this represents actual poisoning or symbolic "toxic" influence, your dream reveals that you have not found peace with these events. The dilemma of whether to throw away or eat the relish that was "only left in the house" represents your struggle between holding onto suspicions versus moving forward and accepting what nourishment life still offers.
(Abdulgani al-Nabulusi — Encyclopedia of Dream Interpretation, Islam)

The traditional sources are particularly instructive here. The ancient text about the sinek (fly-like thing) entering and exiting through the nose teaches us that dreams transform real objects into symbolic landscapes - your actual relish becomes dream food imbued with all your fears. Similarly, the teaching that "if a living person gives a deceased person something to eat or drink in a dream, it means loss of money" reverses in your case - your deceased son created a mess you must clean, suggesting ongoing emotional and perhaps financial costs of your unresolved grief. The sources also warn that deceased persons complaining about specific body parts represent questions about how they lived. Your son's feces on his legs may symbolize concerns about his final days and circumstances of death.
(Traditional Islamic Dream Sources, Classical Interpretations, Islam)

From Miller's psychological dream dictionary perspective, seeing a corpse or deceased person in connection with one's business or daily work suggests that loss and grief are interfering with practical life. The warning that "there are those who are not conscientiously doing the right thing" and the "gloomy outlook" may reflect your own inner voice warning you about the mother-in-law or about unresolved matters. Your mind is telling you that you cannot fully function in your shop, in your business, in your daily life, until you address these deep wounds.
(Gustavus Hindman Miller, 10,000 Dreams Interpreted, Psychology)

The overall message of this dream is clear: you are carrying multiple layers of unprocessed trauma. You hide your grief (the feces) while trying to function normally (serving customers). You seek a new path forward (the shoes) but remain haunted by suspicions of foul play (the mother-in-law and poisoned food). Your subconscious is urging you to confront these painful truths rather than concealing them. The dream's timing - occurring when you actually have that same relish to eat - shows how your waking anxieties feed your dreaming mind. You need closure, whether through confrontation, prayer for your son's soul, grief counseling, or ritual cleansing. Until you address these wounds directly, they will continue to "spread" through your psyche like that green feces spreading everywhere.

Dream Symbols

  • Late son playing — Represents unresolved grief, longing for the relationship that was lost, and the soul's need for prayers and remembrance. Playing symbolizes innocence and the desire to return to happier times before tragedy struck.
  • Green feces spreading — Symbolizes toxic emotions, unprocessed grief, guilt, and shame that you are trying to hide from others. Green indicates both sickness and potential healing - emotions that need to be cleansed rather than concealed. The spreading nature shows how unaddressed grief contaminates all areas of life.
  • Being barefoot and choosing shoes — Barefoot state represents vulnerability and spiritual exposure. The two pairs of shoes symbolize choices about your life path forward after loss. Maroon color represents earthiness, grounding, and acceptance of mortality. Wearing them shows readiness to continue your journey despite pain.
  • Palm (pap) and okra relish — Represents daily sustenance, nourishment, and the continuation of life. The specific foods connect to your cultural context and home life. Their appearance with the mother-in-law creates anxiety about whether to accept life's nourishment or reject it due to past trauma.
  • Mother-in-law in high heels rushing away — Symbolizes unresolved conflict, suspicion, and accusations regarding your son's death. High heels represent pride, status, and an unstable elevated position. Her hurried silent departure indicates either guilt or your projection of blame. Represents the toxic relationship and unspoken accusations between you.
  • Black substance in food — Represents suspected poison, toxic influence, or harmful intentions. Whether literal or symbolic, this recurring element shows traumatic association with food and trust. Your subconscious links your son's death to these two incidents of finding foreign matter in meals after the mother-in-law's visits.
  • Shop and customers — Represents your public persona and functional daily life. The fact that you hide the mess while serving customers shows compartmentalization - maintaining a normal facade while concealing inner turmoil and grief.

  • Traditional Islamic Dream Interpretation — Encyclopedia: The ancient teaching of the fly-like thing (sinek) that exits through the nose and enters a magical landscape teaches us that dreams transform mundane objects into symbolic realms. Real milk becomes a milk ocean; a simple pipe becomes a covered bridge; everyday items in our waking life become charged with deep meaning in our sleeping visions.
  • Sigmund Freud — The Interpretation of Dreams: One day I find a lady depressed and weeping... She dreamed when she was four years old: something falls down, or she falls down, and after that, her mother is carried out of the house - dead; whereat the dreamer weeps bitterly. This dream must signify a childish wish to see her mother dead, and it is because of this dream that she thinks her relatives must shudder at her. Dreams of death in family members often reveal our deepest conflicts and guilts.

There are those who are not conscientiously doing the right thing. There will be a gloomy outlook for peace and prosperous work. When death imagery enters our workplace dreams, it signals that grief is interfering with practical life.
