Summary

This dream reveals a spiritual journey involving transitions, boundaries between life and death, and the need for closure with departed loved ones. The water barrier represents emotional and spiritual obstacles in your current path, while the encounter with the deceased suggests unfinished business or unresolved grief that seeks peace and resolution.

Interpretation

The imagery of being unable to reach school due to water barriers carries profound symbolic meaning. Water in dreams often represents the subconscious mind, emotions, and spiritual transitions. The fact that you must navigate through flowing water with stones suggests that your current path requires careful emotional navigation and stepping stones of wisdom to reach your goals. The school itself symbolizes learning, growth, and life lessons that await you.
(Ibn Sirin, Dreams and Interpretations, Islam)

The appearance of deceased individuals in your dream holds significant meaning across spiritual traditions. In Islamic dream interpretation, seeing righteous or familiar deceased people often indicates blessings, guidance, or messages from the spiritual realm. The fact that you were able to communicate with them while others feared them suggests a special spiritual sensitivity or openness. Your conversation with them and giving them permission to depart represents a healthy process of closure and acceptance of death as a natural transition.
(Abdulgani al-Nabulusi — Encyclopedia of Dream Interpretation, Islam)

From a psychological perspective, dreams involving deceased loved ones often reflect the dreamer's ongoing process of grief and integration. Freud observed that dreams of the dead frequently arise when we harbor unresolved feelings or unfinished emotional business with those who have passed. Your act of speaking lovingly to these figures and releasing them with blessing represents a mature psychological process of letting go. The room with your colleagues present suggests that this emotional work is happening alongside your daily professional life, indicating that grief and growth coexist in your waking consciousness.
(Sigmund Freud — The Interpretation of Dreams, Psychology)

The water surrounding the area where the deceased appeared creates a boundary between the world of the living and the dead. This liminal space—neither fully here nor there—is where spiritual communication becomes possible. In traditional Islamic interpretation, when deceased individuals appear near water or in transitional spaces, it often signifies that they are in a state between worlds, sometimes seeking prayers or closure. Your sister's question about why they remain suggests a cultural understanding that the dead should move on, while your compassionate response shows spiritual maturity in helping them find peace.
(Abdulgani al-Nabulusi — Encyclopedia of Dream Interpretation, Islam)

The collaborative element of being with colleagues throughout this dream suggests that your spiritual and professional development are intertwined. The school you're trying to reach may represent not just worldly knowledge but spiritual wisdom. The obstacles you face together indicate shared challenges in your community or workplace. The fact that you were the one able to communicate with the deceased while others feared them positions you as a spiritual mediator or bridge between different realms of experience.
